The Park Maintenance Staff will be responsible for the for the daily operations of the Orchards Residents Association (ORA) facilities, grounds, and amenities, and other areas under the umbrella of the ORA.

The ORA is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to manage, maintain, and operate the ORA amenities. The ORA owns, operates, and maintains a 5-acre park that features a splash park, picnic area, pleasure skating rink, hockey rink, skate change area, maintenance shop/ office and 12,000 square foot recreational facility that include flex rooms, skate change room, kitchen and offices. This park is exclusively for the residents of the Orchards community.

Duties:
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Lead Hand will be responsible for the following:
Administrative Functions:

• Providing exceptional customer service
• Complete Administrative tasks as directed
• Maintaining accurate, detailed logs & Reports

Operations and Maintenance Functions:
• Performing outdoor rink maintenance; flooding, snow clearing, ice resurfacing, board replacement/ repairs, etc… Performing snow clearing and removal tasks; including shoveling, plowing, removal, etc.
• Collaborate with team members to implement seasonal activities and community events, which enhance resident engagement
• Providing customer driven, service oriented, clean, safe, and well maintained park
• Operate and maintain various equipment and tools safely and efficiently. Training provided
• Oversee the daily maintenance and operations of ORA facilities and grounds to ensure they are clean, safe, and welcoming. Conduct regular inspections of the facilities and grounds, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly to the Facilities and Amenities Manager
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational guidelines to create a secure environment for all users and staff

Employees are expected to perform these duties with minimal supervision

Safety:

  • Reviewing and managing safety program
  • Ensuring all Workplace Health and Safety requirements are met
  • Ensuring safe work conditions exist at all times

Leadership:

  • Providing leadership and training to the seasonal maintenance team
  • Ensuring all ORA maintenance team are educated in work place safety and are working in a safe manner, adhering to OH&S standards and all of ORA’s safety policies and procedures

Hours of Employment:

• Hours of business are Sunday to Saturday, 9AM-9PM. These times are subject to change depending on the needs of the facility. Full time shifts would be 8HR shifts roughly 7:00am-3:30PM, 5 days a week, Wednesday to Sunday.

The description does not include Special Events or any unforeseen circumstances that may require extra attention and additional hours.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Have own transportation. Clean Driving History
• Ability to build and maintain good relationships with members
• Capable of enforcing company policy and regulations
• Strong work ethics. Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.

Previous experience in park maintenance, landscaping, or a related field is preferred
